First off, I have to give credit for the photo editing and cloud brushes I used. I have discovered the beauty of Photoshop Actions, and I downloaded actions from Wish Wish Wish. It makes it so easy to get beautiful photos. I can’t help but feel a little bit guilty because it’s so hands-free, but it’s fun to go through and see how she works her magic. The cloud brushes are from Lauren Harrison on Animus. They’re so fun! Both of them helped me spice up a post that I was feeling pretty blah about (I was really hot and gross when I got home from work and almost didn’t take photos), and I came across both at Pugly Pixel.

I recently did some makeup organizing that I’m really proud of, so I’ll probably throw together some before and afters soon. I still have way too much and I’m slowly paring down my collection to what I REALLY use, not just what I convince myself I might use soon, but it’s a start. See you then!

Hot Date on a Warm Day

So sorry for the lack of consistent posts this last week! I was bad about taking photos of my nails or products. I usually get home from work, get in bed with my cat Elvira and then watch Netflix and eat until I doze off. Very productive. Last night I broke that cycle and sat at my (still clean!) desk, watched The Last Exorcism (marginal and mostly bad), and made a gold faux leather collar necklace. It looks cute with my drapey black ASOS tunic, so I’ll probably get in a good post about that. Too bad it’s way too warm to wear said tunic out and about.

Today I’m going to Fry’s with my sweet Mark man to look for some adapter, and I might pick up a new webcam or something. And later I might have a play date with Bec-bec. It’s pretty hot out today so I’m going a little minimal on clothes, but that’s kind of something you get used to in Texas.

I like to pretend I’m artsy farsty in photo shop but I failed at making a double exposure and got tired.  So now you get a daily double of Taylor.

The dress fits nice and snug, and it’s the easiest thing to put on when I want to look done up without doing much else. I can throw on some gold jewelry, reach for my handy Mademoiselle lippy and call it a day. Here’s a close up of the ram ring. It’s one of my favorites.

I can’t tell you how many times people have asked me if I’m a Taurus when I wear this ring. Get your astrological signs together people!

Skull or Stud?

I tried to do a flattering shot from the lips down but I failed. Ignore my wonky mouth and enjoy another shot of my MAC Runaway Red.

…Then bring your attention to the new love of my life, this tiny skull necklace from H&M. I got the necklace and two matching earrings for all of like 6 or 7 dollars. I originally saw them on an article by Hannah on xojane.com, and when I saw them on my last shopping date with Becca, I took the plunge. No regrets.

From far away, it just looks like a little jeweled stud, very classy and simple. Then you zoom in and you see why I needed it in my life.

I love love love it. That’s really all I have to say about the matter. It’s just so small and most of the time I’m the only one who knows that it’s actually a scary little skull face.

Palomarie

I saw these pieces on Pinterest from Austin-based jewelry shop Palomarie. They struck me because they’re all so delicate but also structured. To say I’m a fan of gold and black is an understatement, so these are my cup of tea and then some.

Not much else to say except that I think their pieces are beautiful and I would love to pick one up, but I can’t decide which one!
