I apologize for my absence! I don’t even have a good excuse other than not having time to take photos after work because I’m too busy trying to keep my sleep deficit down. Why are my sleep habits still in college mode?

Becca let me try some lipsticks that didn’t work for her, and one of them was this NYX. Unfortunately it didn’t look good on me by its lonesome cause it’s a very bright orange pink, so I put some of this peachy lip gloss over it and it muted it enough to suit me.

I’m all set up to post more regularly again. I’ve seen so many great posts with summer fashion and outfits that I can’t help but feel inspired again!

Studded Collar DIY Complete!

Remember awhile back when I posted this work in progress? I finally finished it!

I followed this tutorial to embellish the collar a few months ago, and then yesterday I finally rolled back my metaphorical sleeves (I was in my pajamas most of the day) and got to work sizing it down to fit me. I’m not the best tailor, but I managed to shorten the sleeves and the bottom a few inches and take in the sides. Not too shabby.

I really like the way it looks with a colored cardigan (of which I own one), but I think I can probably pair it up with quite a few things.

Mini personal story time. I was supposed to go out of town this weekend to see friends that I haven’t seen since Christmas, but unfortunately, some scheduling issues arose and I couldn’t go. I won’t lie. I was super bummed about it, but since I had planned an amazingly cute outfit to wear to their barbeque event, I figured, why not still use the outfit for a little blog post. Now that I’m all dolled up, I’m going to get a frappucino, do a bunch of sewing (that’ll hopefully be post-worthy!) and watch Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood on Netflix for the rest of the day. Nothing cheers me up like mixed coffee drinks and anime marathons.

First off, I have to give credit for the photo editing and cloud brushes I used. I have discovered the beauty of Photoshop Actions, and I downloaded actions from Wish Wish Wish. It makes it so easy to get beautiful photos. I can’t help but feel a little bit guilty because it’s so hands-free, but it’s fun to go through and see how she works her magic. The cloud brushes are from Lauren Harrison on Animus. They’re so fun! Both of them helped me spice up a post that I was feeling pretty blah about (I was really hot and gross when I got home from work and almost didn’t take photos), and I came across both at Pugly Pixel.

I recently did some makeup organizing that I’m really proud of, so I’ll probably throw together some before and afters soon. I still have way too much and I’m slowly paring down my collection to what I REALLY use, not just what I convince myself I might use soon, but it’s a start. See you then!

I love a good superstitious. I’m a sucker for creepy stuff and I’ve recently accepted my love of a good scary/ unsettling movie. Anyone who follows my tumblr will see I love me some skulls, creepy pasta, and feminism (and shameless self promotion, holla). Granted I’m not really afraid of Friday the 13th, but I have my own quirks. Whenever I’m traveling (driving or flying) I always wear yellow and I always wear my late uncle’s St. Christopher medallion. I know little habits like this are silly, but you bet your sweet butt at the end of the day I throw salt over my shoulder if I spill it.

Gradient filter for dramatic effect. Oooh! I didn’t wear this out and about because it was too warm, but I got it on sale at ASOS and I look forward to wearing it when it cools down again a few months from now. And this is the collar necklace I was excited about! I can change it to three different lengths to go with different tops. Very versatile and I’m proud cause I threw it together my own self.

I tried to slick my hair back cause my hair is currently in need of a good shampoo. Turns out it’s hard to keep it all back when you have blunt bangs.

April’s Birch Box came in already, and one of my goodies was the Zoya nail polish. I love it! I’ll do a more extensive review of everything sometime this week, but I was pretty happy with it overall. Now to beautify my patio for this coming summer. I’ll try to take some pictures if I can style it nice.

Hot Date on a Warm Day

So sorry for the lack of consistent posts this last week! I was bad about taking photos of my nails or products. I usually get home from work, get in bed with my cat Elvira and then watch Netflix and eat until I doze off. Very productive. Last night I broke that cycle and sat at my (still clean!) desk, watched The Last Exorcism (marginal and mostly bad), and made a gold faux leather collar necklace. It looks cute with my drapey black ASOS tunic, so I’ll probably get in a good post about that. Too bad it’s way too warm to wear said tunic out and about.

Today I’m going to Fry’s with my sweet Mark man to look for some adapter, and I might pick up a new webcam or something. And later I might have a play date with Bec-bec. It’s pretty hot out today so I’m going a little minimal on clothes, but that’s kind of something you get used to in Texas.

I like to pretend I’m artsy farsty in photo shop but I failed at making a double exposure and got tired.  So now you get a daily double of Taylor.

The dress fits nice and snug, and it’s the easiest thing to put on when I want to look done up without doing much else. I can throw on some gold jewelry, reach for my handy Mademoiselle lippy and call it a day. Here’s a close up of the ram ring. It’s one of my favorites.

I can’t tell you how many times people have asked me if I’m a Taurus when I wear this ring. Get your astrological signs together people!

Outfit Post

I don’t shop at Forever 21 as much anymore, but I love this top! I wear it all the time, and it’s so soft and comfortable. It was about 85 degrees today so I whipped out a skirt sans panty hose for the first time in awhile. I had a great day shopping with Miss Becca and I discovered the wonder of Big Lots! cosmetic discounts. I got 2 Revlon Colorburst lipsticks, a pretty taupe eyeshadow quad from Revlon, and a plum e.l.f. lip gloss for $9 total! I’ll probably try to swatch them tomorrow since I’m off of work. I also bought some nail head studs to do collar embellishments like the one in this post. All in all a very productive day with my best fwend.

I was having the worst time getting these photos in focus before my battery went dead and I headed out for a shopping date with Becca, so these may not be ideal, but I hope you get an idea. The collar is so cute- it’s doubled! I love how this blouse drapes and looks good with jeans and shorts. I haven’t been able to tuck it into anything without it puffing up at the waist, but for now I like this look. I just wore it with some plain black flats.
